In the past several years, we have seen a large increase in our group and golf package business, which has been outstanding. These large groups typically prepay, so only one person from the group comes to the shop to check everyone in, which is super easy for our guests and staff. The issue we started noticing was our shop sales were taking a hit because most of the players in these groups weren’t coming into the golf shop. What we did to help “lure” these guests back into the shop was offer specially priced merchandise in the front of the shop. These promotions helped catch the attention of guests walking by and draw them back into the shop. We typically did this promotion on the weekends and saw a 10 percent increase in sales during this time. It also helps us clear slow-moving merchandise on high volume days without having to have a dedicated sale rack in the golf shop.
