For outings, we put a merchandise voucher for each guest on their cart. It’s valid for $20 off a polo and outerwear or $10 off a hat. This helps create traffic in the shop after the outing is complete. We started using this promotion in 2021 as a way to capture more shop sales on outing days and also felt this would add value to hosting an outing at Wild Rock. We gave out the vouchers at about 25 outing in 2024, typically to groups that did shotguns. We required it be used on full price merchandise, and it was not valid with any other specials or discounts. On average, we saw redemption of 10 to 15 percent of vouchers, mostly before their round started.
For us, it got people into the shop looking around. On outing days, most of our sales are golf balls and gloves. This helps us to increase sales in other areas of our shop. Our margin might take a little hit but big picture, if this has a lasting memory with the event coordinator and they bring their event back in following years, the discount is well worth it.
