In talking recently with Harvey, he shared his overarching management philosophy as an example of an approach that new or young GMs could introduce into their operations.
“I have implemented defined policies and procedures to enhance the club experience. Although the experiences at each club differ, they are unified by a golf-centric philosophy that prioritizes members. To ensure consistency, I have established clear roles and responsibilities for our team members, committees and the Board of Directors. This alignment has been crucial for effective long-term club planning."
When asked to share what he feels are the most essential traits that all good GMs should possess, Harvey responded, “A team-first leadership approach, where trust and common-sense consistency are at its core.”
