Do your golfers experience lower back pain? Hip mobility can be the solution you've been searching for.
Ensuring optimal hip rotation and mobility is crucial in addressing lower back pain for our golfers. A great program or exercise prescription begins with a detailed movement assessment.
Assessing hip rotation and mobility is a cornerstone in prescribing practical exercises for alleviating and preventing lower back discomfort. Understanding hip mobility is paramount.
Enter the Lower Quarter Rotation (LQR) test, a fundamental tool in our diagnostic process. By evaluating the range and quality of hip rotation, we gain valuable insights into the biomechanics impacting the lower back. A restricted range of motion or asymmetry in hip rotation can often be linked to compensatory movements such as reverse pivot, reverse spine angle, sway/slide, etc., exacerbating strain on the lumbar spine.
Through targeted exercises to improve hip mobility and address any identified limitations, we mitigate the risk of injury and enhance overall golf performance. If your golfers experience lower back pain or stiffness, watch the full video to learn simple strategies for improving hip mobility.
In this video, I share key insights on how hip mobility can directly impact one’s golf game and lower back health. We'll cover three strategies to help golfers improve their hip mobility:
