After more than two decades in golf fitness, I am taking my concepts and programming to athletes nationwide with several new satellite training centers. We opened our first location of “The Stable” in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in November, with Scottsdale, Arizona opening in early January and Atlanta, Georgia coming in May of 2025.
Having always been interested in rotary sports, I have created a training regimen system that delivers the full functional performance package, including movement patterns and planes of motion that are sport-specific for each of our athletes. Working on these movements in the gym will help our clients apply them more successfully on their particular field of play.
I’ve also just finished writing a handbook on creating a “Stable”-certified trainer, which will help facilitate a three-day course through which trainers from all over the world can come in and learn my training methodology, the same system I’ve been using with some of the world's greatest sports competitors for more than 20 years.
Once these coaches and trainers become certified, they will have access to a digital platform that will contain more than 2,000 exercises that the newly certified trainers can use as the protocols to deliver results to their clients. This library is the result of many years of research, engagement and education on my part, as well as implementation of concepts that have proven successful with athletes from multiple sports and a wide variety of skill levels.
Fitness and performance have become as important to athletes as the technical aspects of their particular sport. Golfers who once would stand on the practice range hitting golf balls for hours hoping for a miraculous transformation, are now engaging their local fitness professionals and attaining their goals through precise movement training. The focus of our training runs the gamut from the general population to elite athletes, in some cases working side by side.
Our message is uniform throughout our team’s engagement with clients. Stress gains in the gym is the lowest-hanging fruit. You can get strong. But we want to see how the body moves in a dynamic pattern. After all, you can be as strong as you want, but if you don’t have the base, stability or mobility to handle it from a neuromuscular standpoint, it’s all for nothing. You can be strong and not be pliable or perform inefficiently with strength alone. My methodology peels back the layers of the onion to go deep into the core and fix athletes from the inside out. We want to see how their bodies move and how they adhere to the patterns of the sports they’re playing. Training rotary sports athletes in linear patterns will not reap the desired results. We stay within the pillars of human movement and believe we can get results out of any human on the planet.
Understanding the output from our extensive initial assessment enables us to individualize training and make it specific to each athlete’s initial capabilities.
As we take “The Stable” to locations outside of Jupiter, Florida, the team is more than just me. I have a medical director overseeing the programming, as well as a general manager and a performance director at each location. Our goal is to certify 100 trainers per year to populate “The Stable” app for athletes to find trainers in their area.
Our trainer certification program will be an in-person curriculum and will be supplemented by seminars and continuing education training sessions. We are a hands-on organization. In addition, clients can see trainers in the new brick-and-mortar locations and enjoy the amenities through a membership model.
We’ll also implement a subscription model for the app, separate from the trainer certification program and in-person memberships we have planned. Athletes will be able to access the videos and programs that apply to their sports and goals.
At “The Stable,” we have an agenda to serve any person, even a non-athlete who just wants to get in better shape and feel healthier. As a result, we’re changing the world, one workout at a time.
