Istarted my fitness business in 2002 as an independent contractor at several local clubs. At that time, private clubs were focused on golf and F&B. Fortunately, over the past 25 years, golf-specific fitness has come to the forefront of player development at all levels of the game.
I opened The Club in Scottsdale shortly after the pandemic with the actual equipment that populated the TPI studios in Oceanside, California, through a program that awarded TPI-certified professionals with equipment for their fitness and performance centers. That support was vital in getting The Club started.
At The Club, we’ve created an elevated, personal experience that blends fitness, recovery and technology. We’re not a one-size-fits-all program. Our Portfolio Members (clients) receive customized care from a curated team of the best in the business—what we call our Caddies—each with a specialty of his or her own. I am proud to lead the team with a background in strength, mobility, biomechanics and nine advanced Titleist Performance Institute certifications.
As stated on our website, our goal is to teach our golfers how human movement can enhance their abilities on and off the course. In our 1,750-square-foot facility, we look at their technique and fundamentals on The Range via our golf simulator and PGA of America Golf Professional Ron Gring, a Quarter Century PGA Member and multi-year special awards winner in the Southwest PGA Section.
We restore balance and offer services like manual therapy, dry needling, cupping, compression therapy, massage and assisted stretching in The Cart Barn. The recent addition of our Shiftwave chair has been a game changer. The Shiftwave is a rare and powerful nervous system reset tool. It uses acoustical and vibrational waves in a zero-gravity chair to help regulate stress, aid recovery and enhance athletic performance. With over 60 protocols, we can help clients upshift or downshift based on their goals, whether it’s post-round recovery or mental clarity before a tournament.
Finally, our trainers help clients build better balance, strength, speed and power for their swing, essentially fine-tuning their athleticism in The Performance Studio. This engagement is highly collaborative and holistic. My trainers and I can all swap in and out for each other as needed to ensure every portfolio member gets the best out of every caddie on our team. These are one-on-one sessions, as our clientele prefers that individual attention.
With many golfers’ propensity to struggle with physical limitations that include joint mobility and stability, strength, speed and power, not to mention injuries such as golfer’s elbow, back pain and shoulder and wrist problems, our TPI-certified caddies provide tailored solutions to help portfolio members overcome these obstacles and achieve their best game.
With the reputation I’ve built since my very first certification 33 years ago, many of our new clients are attained via word-of-mouth referrals from existing members. We provide initial assessments and have five portfolio options from which clients can choose. They range from 18 to 72 one-hour sessions, which we call “holes.”
Every portfolio includes:
• Unlimited access to THE CLUB during each hole played: The Range & Performance Studio
• Each hole includes a lesson training session or treatment of choice with any Caddie (50-70 mins)
• THE CLUB Yeti for unlimited FloWater to save the environment & refuel
• Periodic Physical and Power Screening Assessments
• Full Access to Free Fridge Treats, which include unlimited coffee, hydration supplements and protein balls
• Special Affiliations and Elite Member pricing for Titleist, True Spec Fitting, Cole Haan Shoes, YETI, Dutch Bros, Zentopia CBD, Cecilia Berkley Holistic Spa and many more!
• Recovery Room access to Normatec Compression devices, hot/cold therapy, Infrared and PEMF
• Encouragement to lounge, laugh and stay a while. This is a community, not a cookie-cutter gym.
Although most of our clients become long-term relationships, we do have some who seek short-term engagement or even a one-and-done session. With the majority of our clients being private club members, we will collaborate and communicate with their PGA Professional coaches and instructors to ensure that holistic approach I mentioned earlier.
When it comes down to it, our community-first, science-based approach focuses on longevity, performance and total well-being. We serve all ages and levels, and they’re greeted by Bunker, our English Bulldog and club mascot.
