For over 15 years, the Colorado Golf Association has partnered with other non-profit organizations to bring golf to their participants. The first two organizations that the CGA worked with were Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Colorado and Special Olympics. This began the CGA Community Outreach programs.
Since that time, the CGA has increased its programming to other partners. All the programs are held at CommonGround Golf Course and instruction is provided by Experience Golf. This year, the CGA worked with seven different organizations and over 200 participants.
CGA Community Outreach Programs:
“Watching kids and adults get excited about the game is truly rewarding,” said Cayla Regnery, CGA Manager of Programs. Regnery, who just started with the CGA this Spring is a former Elementary school teacher. “A parent told me this summer that her 6-year-old daughter was going around the neighborhood block party teaching all the kids ‘tick-tock’ and ‘shoe to shoe’ while doing the putting motion,” said Regnery. One of the participants from the ARCH Children’s Hospital said, “I’m going to be better than my dad at the end of this!”
So, the next time you renew your CGA membership remember that through your membership you are allowing the next generation the opportunity to learn the game.
