Candidness: the quality of being open, honest, and straightforward. What a powerful word and message it entails. It’s a word that invokes humility, responsible action, and accountability … Values any golfer knows are ever-present, yet necessary, if you want success in this game. Candidness creates pathways towards growth by framing thinking and establishing goals. Candidness is a catalyst, both to better understand the present, and change the future.
This past offseason, the Colorado Golf Foundation, with support from our partner organizations, took a diligently candid approach to effectively (and honestly) evaluate our collective impact across the state in our three key focus areas: caddie programs, community partnerships, and junior player development. We look forward to sharing openly, and proudly, the tremendous work of these organizations happening throughout Colorado.
In 2023, organizations and programs we support through our grantmaking process created opportunities for 21,389 youth to engage in the game of golf. An astonishing number that speaks volumes about the value these organizations place on the communities they serve.
In the coming months, we are excited to keep sharing the work our current and new partner organizations are providing, and this month we have an invigorating opportunity for our membership. These programs provide an incredible avenue to introduce the game, as well as provide a chance for adults to volunteer, coach, and mentor the next generation coming up through the game. Golf is the vessel by which lessons and values are formed, and our Foundation encourages you to find a way to give back this season by working with one of our partners.
Below, hear from these organizations in their own words about the candid difference you can make by becoming a volunteer. Together, let’s push to continue helping golf thrive for years to come.
ORGANIZATIONS REQUESTING VOLUNTEER HELP
"At First Tee-Colorado Rocky Mountains, our mission is to educate and inspire youth academically, socially, and physically through the game of golf. We cannot do this without the hard work and efforts of the volunteers that help with our various programs. Volunteers can contribute their knowledge of golf with our Read n’ Swing program, as a Player’s Club Tournament walker or as an on-course coach.

“At First Tee – Southern Colorado, we help kids discover what’s inside of them, guide them to strengthen it, and mentor them to put it into action in everything they do.
Without caring mentors, positive youth development just doesn’t happen. We believe that a meaningful quality relationship between coach and participant is vital to our program. Make a positive impact and get involved today!”
