Pulcipher served as Treasurer and President of the Denver Public Library Foundation, later named the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation, and led the annual used book sales that continue to benefit the Library to this day. As an active member of Denver Public Library’s Western History and Genealogy Department Community Acquisitions Committee, he’s helped acquire rare papers ranging from Western authors to historical banking records dating back to the late 1800s and has generously donated his work and theses to the Library’s collections. His activism, acquisitions, and unwavering continued support have bettered the organization for decades and will do so for many years to come.
About the Eleanor Gehres Award:
In 1999, the Denver Public Library Commission established the Eleanor Gehres Award in recognition of Eleanor’s longtime service and contributions to the Western History and Genealogy Department of the Denver Public Library. This annual honor recognizes an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to the Denver Public Library Western History Collection that enhances its value and/or expands the department’s significance to the community.
