The outdoor community on Long Island continues to grow, and one recent event highlighted the increasing interest in archery and shooting sports among women of all ages. American Outdoor News recently attended a sold-out women’s archery event hosted by Long Island Babes & Bucks founders Jacquelyn Molina and Julia Romanchuk at Ten Ring Archery. The event welcomed women from across Long Island who were interested in learning the fundamentals of shooting a compound bow in a welcoming and supportive environment. Interest was so strong that the class quickly reached capacity, with additional attendees being turned away in the days leading-up to the event.
Participants ranged from complete beginners to women interested in becoming more involved in archery and hunting. Throughout the event, attendees learned proper shooting techniques, bow safety, form, and accuracy while building confidence on the range. Under the instruction of Molina and Romanchuk, the atmosphere remained relaxed, encouraging, and beginner-friendly, making the sport approachable for newcomers who may have never picked up a bow before.
Over the past several years, Long Island Babes & Bucks has built a strong following by mentoring women in many aspects of the outdoor lifestyle. In addition to archery instruction, the organization has introduced women to hunting education, ethical hunting practices, field dressing, deer butchering, and outdoor safety. Their hands-on teaching style and welcoming approach have helped many women gain the confidence to explore hunting and outdoor recreation for the first time.
Beyond hunting and archery, Long Island Babes & Bucks has also become well known for hosting fishing events and youth outdoor programs throughout the region. Their growing lineup of activities includes beginner-friendly fishing trips, youth archery days, educational workshops, and family-oriented outdoor events designed to introduce more people to conservation and the outdoors. By creating opportunities for men, women, and children to participate, the organization continues to strengthen Long Island’s outdoor community while encouraging the next generation to become involved in outdoor recreation.
The success of this latest archery event reflects the growing community that Long Island Babes & Bucks continues to build across Long Island. What began as a passion for introducing more women to the outdoors has evolved into a supportive network of hunters, anglers, archers, and conservation-minded individuals eager to learn and share experiences. Through their dedication, Jacquelyn Molina and Julia Romanchuk have created opportunities for people of all ages and experience levels to enjoy the outdoors in a positive and educational environment.
With additional classes, shooting events, fishing outings, youth programs, and mentorship opportunities already being planned, Long Island Babes & Bucks continues to play an important role in expanding participation in archery, hunting, fishing, and conservation throughout the region. Their efforts go far beyond teaching outdoor skills. They are helping build confidence, promote self-reliance, encourage ethical conservation practices, and foster a deeper appreciation for the outdoors among families and newcomers alike. As outdoor recreation continues to grow on Long Island, organizations like Long Island Babes & Bucks are helping ensure these traditions remain strong for future generations.
