It seems that American Outdoor News is off to a fast and furious start for 2024. We started off the year at the Dallas Safari Club Convention on January 11th where we presented our first annual Lifetime Achievement Award. The American Outdoor News Lifetime Achievement Award was presented in recognition of one’s participation, commitment and contributions to the preservation of our outdoor heritage and traditions. This year’s recipient was Larry Weishuhn. Larry has been a champion for the outdoors throughout his life in a number of capacities. Larry has had an impact on countless outdoorsman through his work as a wildlife biologist, his multi-media and his mentorship. It was an honor to present our inaugural lifetime achievement award to Larry for all that he has done so that our way of life is passed on to the next generation.
Next, we were off to Las Vegas to attend Shot Show. Shot Show is always a fascinating event where we have the opportunity to see the debut of new outdoor/hunting gear that will be hitting the market this coming year. As an added bonus, we connected with this issue’s feature interview. I have to say that I could not have met a nicer individual, the host of Gunfather Restorations, Louie Tuminaro. The Gunfather made its debut on the Outdoor Channel in 2014 and this was the first opportunity that we had to meet. I really enjoyed meeting and speaking with Louie. It was a laugh a minute and I felt like I have known him for years. I know that you will enjoy this very open and revealing interview as he gives you an inside look into his life on screen and off.
I want to thank all of you again for your support and your participation that makes American Outdoor News the publication that it is.
Here is to another Great Year!
Sincerely,
Chris Avena
