What an off-season it’s been! We’ve been firing on all cylinders—traveling around our great nation for conferences, festivals, and product launches that have kept the team at American Outdoor News energized and inspired. This summer has been about more than just covering stories—it’s been about living the lifestyle we love and sharing it with our readers.
We kicked things off by diving into the smoky, savory world of competitive BBQ at the National BBQ Festival, where we got hands-on with the best in the business. From chatting with legendary teams like the BBQ Pit Boys to sampling some unforgettable steaks and brisket, it was clear—grilling isn’t just a way to cook; it’s a way of life. I left the festival ready to fire up my Camp Chef Smoker, armed with a few new tricks and a renewed appreciation for the art of outdoor cooking.
From fire to ice, our next stop was the Igloo Coolers New Product Launch—a must-attend event from one of the sponsors of our annual American Outdoor News Montauk Fishing Event. Igloo unveiled an exciting upgrade to their iconic Playmate Cooler—bigger, bolder, and now Bluetooth-enabled. That’s right—this cooler doubles as a high-tech party companion, streaming music straight from your favorite platform. Classic design meets modern innovation—what will they think of next?
We wrapped up our whirlwind tour with the always-anticipated Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) Conference, held this year at the beautiful Maumee Bay Lodge on the shores of Lake Erie. It was an incredible few days filled with educational seminars, exciting range days at Camp Perry and Lake Erie Arms, and opportunities to connect with industry leaders, brands, and non-profits. From walleye fishing and kayaking to hiking Magee Marsh, the experience was unforgettable. And we’re proud to say American Outdoor News swept the Digital Magazine category, taking home both the POMA Pinnacle Award and Outstanding Achievement for Digital Magazine Complete. It’s an honor that reflects the hard work of our team and the unwavering support of our readers and partners.
