For this crew tech and boxing champ, his gas career offers the ideal training arena
It takes a lot of hard work to become a world boxing champion. For Andrew Cancio, his job as a crew technician is the perfect training field.
“The discipline and hard work ethic I have cultivated at Southern California Gas Company has made me a better-trained fighter and has instilled in me the confidence that I can handle any situation, whether in the field or in the ring,” Cancio told American Gas.
Against all odds and many naysayers, Cancio became the World Boxing Association super featherweight champion of the world this past February, when he triumphed over the undefeated Alberto Machado at the sold-out fight in Indio, California.
“While I have become a world champion professional boxer, I truly take great pride in my full-time position with SoCalGas,” Cancio said. “I’ve been a full-time employee for seven years and greatly appreciate the support of my co-workers and the company for my boxing career.” —Carolyn Kimmel
