BATHROOM TUNE-UP
If you stick to a specific day to perform the following routine, it’s likely to become a habit. You can skip the caddy of specialty cleansers and pare down your supplies to a foaming cleaner and a multipurpose cleaner with a few basic tools.
WHAT YOU NEED
Foaming bathroom cleaner
Multisurface cleaner
Microfiber cloth
Toilet brush
Mop
THE ROUTINE
Minute 1
Spray the foaming bathroom cleaner on the big three— tub/shower, sink, and toilet. Be sure to get into corners and the seams around faucet hardware. For the toilet, hit the tank, bowl, and base. Spot-test the product on the underside of the toilet seat to ensure it’s safe to use on that material; if it’s not, use the multisurface cleaner there.
Minute 2
Let the foaming cleaner sit to cut through buildup and disinfect surfaces. Use the multisurface cleaner and the dry microfiber cloth to wipe the mirrors.
Minutes 3–8
Wet the cloth and wipe off the foaming cleaner from the sink basin, ledge, and faucet then the tub/shower, rinsing the cloth with clean water as needed.
Minutes 9–11
Wipe the cleaner off the toilet tank, base, and seat with the rinsed microfiber cloth. Use the toilet brush to clean the bowl.
Minutes 12–15
Spray the multisurface cleaner on the floor or mop, then mop the floor.
THE CAVEAT
For specialty surfaces like marble, stick with specifically formulated cleaners.
For the foaming cleaner, we like Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Grime Fighter. It’s particularly tough on soap scum and can be counted on to kill any lurking germs, viruses, and bacteria. Windex Multisurface also disinfects and leaves a streak-free finish on mirrors and shiny stuff.
