True Temper technicians describe the new Riptide X Series driver and fairway shafts as augmentations to the Project X family.
There is the Riptide LX, which is a low-launch, low-spin product that mixes three separate tip inserts of high modulus and high-strength carbon fibers to create an “x-stiff” tip. It also boasts an extra layer of material in the grip section to reduce lag at the top of the swing.
As for the MX, it is more of a mid-launch, mid-spin offering that features a straight taper design (for easy loading) and is made to make it easier to get the ball in the air. This shaft also possesses a softer tip.
“These X Series shafts are the lowest torque shafts in the line,” said Keenan Phillips, the company’s product marketing coordinator. “And the idea was to give golfers something that felt very stable but not too stiff, and in two different models, so that we can reach as wide a range of players as possible.”
