In developing the Exotics C721 lines of fairway metals and hybrids, Tour Edge engineers looked for ways to perfect the center of gravity and moment of inertia in these clubs, to maximize power and forgiveness.
When it came to the fairways, the technicians included a so-called Ridgeback spine in the clubhead, designing it to act as a brace within the Carbon Fiber crown and produce more power on center hits and greater face flex on shots off the heel and toe. Wrap-around Carbon Wings also were added to save weight and create a low-forward CG position to increase stability at impact – and bolster distance even more.
Diamond Face 2.0 technology was used to create faster ball speeds and expand the sweet spot to outer areas of the face. And a 10-gram adjustable back weight was employed to optimize both CG and MOI. Engineers also placed five sound diffusion panels in the clubhead to improve acoustics.
As for the C721 hybrids, they also utilize Diamond Face 2.0 and come with the sound diffusion panels as well as an adjustable rear backweight that is half as heavy as the one found in the fairways. A carbon crown allowed engineers to move the CG to a more low-forward position, for higher MOI numbers and greater ball speed and power at impact.
And the 450-Hyper-Steel face in these clubs is lighter and stronger, which allowed the technicians to put more weight in the center of the sole and the rear of the clubhead, to make these hybrids low-spin and easy to launch.
