The latest release from Sqairz is a more athletic piece of footwear called Speed.
Available in three color combinations, it possesses many of the same unique features of the original Arrow, which was launched at the 2019 PGA Merchandise Show. There is, of course, a square toe (hence the company name) that allows the foot to sit more naturally in the toe as it also promotes better alignment.
Speed also features a heel stabilizer as well as a hybrid sole that boasts nubs as well as cleats under the primary pressure points of the foot. The idea is to provide a better connection to the ground so that golfers can produce the torque that translates into greater distance.
“We believe that every great shot starts in the feet,” says company founder Bob Winskowicz. “So, we developed a shoe with innovations that help golfers get the right foot position more often while also providing more ground connection, balance and stability. That way, they are able to hit longer and more accurate shots.”
Where Speed differs is in its look, which is more athletic. “We have also added more padding to the tongue and collar just to give it more comfort,” added Winskowicz, who counts six-time major champion Nick Faldo and renowned teaching professional Jim McLean as Sqairz endorsers. “But the square toe is still there, and the basic premise of the shoe remains. It provides balance and stability, and by giving golfers more coverage on the ground, it helps facilitate the transfer of energy from the ground up, which adds swing speed and distance to shots.”
