As utility irons became increasingly popular on professional tours, engineers at Callaway Golf began working closely with staff players to produce a club that would give them another option off the tee and a way for better golfers to find even the tightest fairways with their drives.
The results of those efforts are the new X Forged UT irons.
The key bit of technology in these hollow-body clubs is a center of gravity that is strategically positioned in line with the center of the face so the iron delivers a lower, straighter and more penetrating ball flight. A tungsten insert is employed to increase the moment of inertia, and by extension the forgiveness of the clubs as it also makes them easier to launch and control, while a 360 Face Cup is used to push the coefficient of restitution right up to the limit for increased ball speeds across the clubface.
The Callaway X Forged UT irons are available in five lofts, running from 18 to 30 degrees, which translates roughly from 2-iron to 6-iron.
