After more than two dozen events across the state over nine months, the TGA’s 2024 Fun Golf Series came to an end in late November with an appropriately festive get-together on the Whitworth Course at Trophy Club Country Club.
With an impressive lineup of incredible host clubs – including a wonderful variety of newcomers and enduring favorites – this past year was truly memorable for everyone who came out to enjoy playing some of the finest public and private courses in Texas in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Kicking off in early March, the 2024 Fun Golf Series provided golf enthusiasts ample opportunities to tee it up with an epic schedule comprised of 25 one-day outings and two multiday events.
Among the most talked about moments were stops at TPC San Antonio, Lantana Golf Club, Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club, Great Hills Country Club, Barton Creek Resort & Spa, Elkins Lake, The Nelson Golf & Sports Club, and, of course, the two flagship events, the Texas Two-Step at White Bluff Resort and Texas Shamble at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort.
These remarkable courses would have been reason enough to double circle the dates on the calendar. But then when you add in the chance to be outdoors, make new friends, and engage in some casual competitions, it becomes a can’t-miss experience for players of all handicap ranges.
As more and more golfers are taking advantage of all the recreational playing opportunities the TGA has to offer, it’s no surprise that the Fun Golf Series has been on a roll lately with no signs of slowing down.
“We had a successful 2024 season, and we are looking forward to continuing that in 2025,” said Brian Fry, Director of Outreach/TGA Foundation. “We are constantly trying to improve the golfer experience for our TGA Members by having events at great courses.”
Indeed, 2024 was certainly noteworthy. A record total of 1,267 players signed up for Fun Golf Series events this past year versus 883 in 2023. That represents an incredible 43.5% growth in the participation rate, and the TGA is eager to keep the momentum going.
There is a lot of excitement building for the 2025 season, so stay tuned for some big announcements in the upcoming weeks.
