LinkedIn’s new report, The Future of Recruiting 2025, pinpoints three key themes impacting the world of recruiting and hiring: AI, quality of hire, and skills-based hiring. As expectations of candidates grow and evolve, and new technologies accelerate in the industry, TA teams need to be prepared to embrace these changes if they want to stay competitive in today’s talent marketplace.
AI’s Impact
AI technologies have inundated the marketplace in the last few years to the point where they cannot be ignored. In fact, adoption among TA teams is growing, with 37% of organizations now “actively integrating” or “experimenting” with generative AI tools, up from 27% a year ago, according to the report. The main benefit TA teams are experiencing is efficiency, with the average amount time saved being 20% of their work week.
The report finds the top benefits of GenAI include:
improving hiring efficiency (70%);
boosting job post effectiveness (47%);
expanding talent pools (39%);
enhancing the candidate experience (37%); and
increasing quality of hires (33%)
73% of TA teams agree that AI will change the way organizations hire.
Quality Is Key
During these uncertain times and lagging hiring market, selecting the right candidate has never been more important. In fact, as many as 89% of TA leaders agree it will become increasingly important to measure quality of hire. But there are still barriers to getting it right. TA leaders agree: Only 25% report they feel highly confident in their ability to do so effectively, according to the report. One bright light is the potential for AI to aid in understanding and measuring this key metric. And six out of 10 (61%) agree that AI can improve how they measure quality of hire.
Finding the Right Skills
With AI technologies changing the skills needed for organizations to succeed, filling the gaps likely requires new approaches. One that is growing in adoption is skills-based hiring: evaluating candidates based on skills rather than job history. The report finds that over nine out of 10 TA leaders believe accurately assessing a candidate’s skills is crucial for improving quality of hire. Even more, LinkedIn data shows that companies with the most skills-based searches are more than 12% more likely to make a quality hire.
When done right, skills-based hiring enhances alignment between candidates and their roles, promoting longer tenures and business success.
