Mine is to sit in my garden more. Whenever I am in my garden, I am always working on it in some form or other, it’s only when friends are over that I sit still, so I want to be more disciplined with this when it's just me. I love to potter but it's also important to sit and soak up the garden and enjoy what you have created. Now I've put this in writing, I know that I'm accountable so there's no excuses!

To stop leaving tools out, especially secateurs.
To create a vegetable garden planting plan, and actually stick to it.
Not to start any more projects until I've finished all of the ones on my current list (spoiler: I am not holding out much hope for number three as I am already thinking about making some new raised beds… but I'll try!).

My New Year's Resolution is to only mow my lawn once a fortnight during the growing season, and to only mow a path through the lawn to our summerhouse and around the edges. This will encourage more clover and wild flowers to appear in the lawn for pollinators.

My new year resolution is to continue working on our garden to turn it into a haven for wildlife and particularly pollinators.

Don’t buy any new plants until I know where to plant them.
Plant the things I have already bought.
Remember to drink my tea before it gets cold.

Take an hour a week to actually enjoy my garden and the beauty within it. Stop looking at what needs doing and being overly critical so that it can be savoured for just a wee bit of time.

2026 will be our 4th growing season in our new build garden: I/we must finally finish filling that ground - it's nearly there but there are still some gaps.
Grow spuds in the ground for the first time.
Invest in a cold frame to get veg crops off to a better start!

Get another set of five huge raised beds up and running, and the greenhouse that's been sitting in the box since January waiting for a base to be completed.

Do successional sowing of veg.
Use the seeds I have before I buy more!
Take more time to sit it in the garden and enjoy it.
I doubt I’ll achieve any of these as I say this every year!
