Editor and publisher of Scotland Grows magazine, M.T. O’Donnell, presents a lighthearted look at the things which plants can do which we as humans cannot. She will highlight some insights into plant behaviour which will make you think, and may alter the way you talk to your plants.
Richard is the Curator at Logan Botanic Gardens, part of the collective gardens of the Royal Botanics in Edinburgh. Benefitting from the gulf stream, Logan has many exotic species to be found nowhere else in Scotland (other than Inverewe) and he Richard will highlight the work and variety of species growing in the plant collection.
Colin is a Gardens & Design Landscape Manager for the National Trust for Scotland operating out of Newhailes, near Edinburgh. Colin will look at native, and invasive non-native plants, introduced into Scotland by Scottish horticulturalists and nurseries, some escaping into the wild, as well as a look at Scotland’s remarkable trees and the Plant Heritage Collection of the NTS.
For those with a love of roses to be more confident with their care, appreciate the different types, and their potential in the garden. The day covers both theoretical and practical aspects of ordering, planting, pruning, and care including soil care, mulches, and fertilisers, and how to choose the right type of rose as well as renovation of old roses.
