Jason Wilkinson, Director of Rivendale Products Ltd, parent company to Qwickhose.
Qwickhose is a family run business with a mission to make easy to use, quality hose connectors that last. The traditional hose connector has always been a particular bugbear of ours, from the fiddly teeth that snap, to the connectors that pop off very easily, causing leakage which frequently happens.
We wanted to create something much more usable which would stand the test of time – so people don’t have to keep buying replacements. This very reason alone makes the Qwickhose wing-lock connector more cost effective and environmentally friendly.
Born during the 2020 lockdown when people’s attention turned more than ever to their gardens, Qwickhose was established with a vision to remedy the problem of standard hosepipe connectors popping off during use. Our unique selling point is the wing-lock system that replaces the frustrating breakable teeth with which we are all too familiar.
By eliminating the flimsy teeth in favour of our wing-lock connection, it makes the procedure of attaching your garden hose easier, while also increasing hose grip. With its award winning, patent-pending, wing-lock system, you simply push the hose all the way over the inner tube, clamp the wings shut, and secure them with the nut.
Last year we were thrilled to learn that all our hard work had finally paid off when we received our first ever award, winning the GIMA (Garden Industry Manufacturers’ Association) Innovators Seed Corn Fund.
By utilising UV-stabilised, premium-grade plastics and stainless steel, Qwickhose is durable and robust, offering superior interactions and a long service life. The award-winning, universal hose connectors swap the typical plastic ‘teeth’ fitting with our unique, wing-lock system, for quick and easy connection, resulting in less leakage.
Our ethos is ‘buy once, buy well.’ This means that we prioritise the best materials and innovative designs to ensure that our wing-lock connectors will last longer than the traditional models.
Waste plastic pollution can alter habitats and natural processes and severely damage our ecosystem which makes us passionate about sustainability. Rather than buying large volumes of replaceable products, we encourage customers to invest in our reliable garden hose wing-lock connectors which are built to last.
To assist with protecting your accessories from the adverse Scottish weather conditions, we utilise UV stabiliser in all components of our products. By adding this in production, it helps protect from the outdoors, reducing deterioration of quality and colour. This manufacture process, combined with our toothless wing-lock system, results in a longer service life.
Our Starter Set contains a very useful wall mount designed to hang your Qwickhose accessories. During the winter, when not in use, simply disconnect your wing-lock connector from the tap and drain the water from the hose, then hang both ends in the wall mount and drape your hose over. This will help to prevent water freezing inside the connectors, causing damage, during the colder months. Should you need to use your hose in the winter, simply remove from the wall mount and attach the connector back on to the tap.
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. That is certainly the case with the new Qwickhose® range, setting a completely new standard for hose fittings, connectors, and accessories.
Our wing-lock connectors offer quick and easy connection for gardeners. Simply push your hose all the way over the inner tube, clamp the wings shut and secure with the nut. The extra-long connector then acts as a handle. There are no breakable teeth like others on the market, giving a completely new and unique user experience, making the process of attachment smooth, fluid, and effortless.
What’s more our connectors fit most 12.5mm garden hoses and are completely universal with any existing spray guns, sprinklers, and other attachments you already own.
Keep your eyes peeled as we plan to expand our product range and continue developing unique, user-friendly Qwickhose products - some of which are already in development!
