Let me take this opportunity to recognize Ginny Peragallo-Dittko, retiring Associate Editor, for her many years of service. First, I want to express my gratitude for Ginny’s editorial expertise and service in elevating the reputation of The Science of Diabetes Self-Management and Care as an excellent source of science and scholarly work in diabetes care and education. Second, Ginny worked to make content in the journal more reflective of contemporary societal and practice issues related to diabetes education. Finally, Ginny should take pride in her instrumental role in the journal’s achievement and many significant milestones. I appreciated all her help and thank her for the time, effort, and support she gave me.
I am pleased to introduce Susan Sullivan-Bolyai, DNSc, RN, CNS, FAAN, professor emeritus, UMass Chan Medical School, Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing, Worcester, Massachusetts, as our new Associate Editor of The Science of Diabetes Self-Management and Care. Dr Sullivan-Bolyai has worked clinically with children with special health care needs and their families on day-to-day management and continuity of care. Dr Sullivan-Bolyai received her doctor of nursing science and completed a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale University School of Nursing. Her primary areas of expertise are family-focused interventions that address parent and child social support and education of type 1 diabetes day-to-day management, including the innovation of using a childsize human patient simulator for parent and child education. Dr Sullivan-Bolyai taught at the New York University Meyers College of Nursing and served as director of the PhD program. She has likewise taught at the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing and served as associate dean for research and innovation at the UMass Chan Medical School for the past 8 years. In addition, she worked with interprofessional colleagues and PhD students toward improving the day-to-day management of families with children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Dr Sullivan-Bolyai has served on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Family Nursing and the Journal of Pediatrics. She is a prolific writer, with over 50 journal article publications. In addition, she has served as a peer reviewer for The Science of Diabetes Self-Management and Care, offering her expertise among families with children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and knowledge of qualitative descriptive research design.
A warm welcome to Stephanie Griggs, PhD, RN, FAAN, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, who is joining the Editorial Advisory Board. Dr Stephanie Griggs is an assistant professor at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University. She is a sleep and circadian scientist studying the role of sleep and the circadian system in glucoregulation among young adults with type 1 diabetes. Dr Griggs received her PhD from the UMass Chan Medical School, Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing, and completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in self and family management of chronic conditions at Yale University School of Nursing. Dr Griggs is developing a cognitive-behavioral sleep selfmanagement intervention to promote multiple sleep health dimensions and improve glycemic targets. Her work is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Nursing Research (K99NR018886/ ROONRO18896). Dr Griggs has over 20 journal publications and has authored several articles in The Science of Diabetes Self-Management and Care. In addition, Dr Griggs serves as a peer reviewer for The Science of Diabetes Self-Management and Care, offering her expertise in biobehavioral-technology-based interventions to support sleep selfmanagement and sleep promotion in adolescents and young adults. Dr Griggs is likewise the recipient of the Early Career Reviewer Program at the National Institutes of Health and was inducted in October 2022 into the Academy of Nursing.
And finally, a warm welcome to Eunseok Cha, PhD, MPH, CDCES, FAHA, professor, Chungnam National University, College of Nursing Daejeon, South Korea, who is also joining the Editorial Advisory Board. Dr Eunseok Cha is a Chungnam National University College of Nursing professor. Dr Cha’s area of expertise is personalized diabetes self-management programs among individuals with type 2 diabetes. In addition, Dr Cha’s research has focused on preventing type 2 diabetes in high-risk young adults. Dr Cha received her PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and an MPH from Seoul National University. Dr Cha has over 40 peer-reviewed journal publications and has authored several articles in The Diabetes Educator and The Science of Diabetes Self-Management and Care. In addition, Dr Cha serves as a peer reviewer for The Science of Diabetes Self-Management and Care, offering her expertise in diabetes self-management education and support and developing diabetes prevention programs. In addition, because of Dr Cha’s workshops on empirical and analytical methods, she has provided the needed expertise regarding research methodology and data analyses. Dr Cha is certified as a diabetes care and education specialist and health education specialist (Ministry of Health and Welfare, South Korea).
