Dr Graham Stokes has spent the past four decades on the front lines of patient care, witnessing first-hand the multitude of challenges and opportunities in today’s practice. A former dental practice owner, with a special interest in implants and major dental reconstruction work, Graham is also actively involved in postgraduate dental education. Graham is a member of the Board of Dental Protection, the new Chair of the MPS Council, previously the Chair of The MPS Foundation, and serves as a special adviser and clinical lead for the dental charity Bridge2Aid. Since 2014, he has worked closely with colleagues on MPS Council to address the unique challenges faced by the medical and dental communities.
This experience has fostered a lifelong passion for clinical education, risk prevention, collaboration, and dialogue, both nationally and internationally. It also instilled in him a deep appreciation for the role of the medical defence organisation in supporting members’ professional development and wellbeing.
We sat down with Graham, to talk frankly about his journey from general dental practitioner to Chair of MPS Council, his priorities, and his desire to make a tangible difference for members.
