LAST TIME OUT: The 'Pigs snapped their seven-game losing streak with a 3-2 win on Saturday night. Jim Haley drove in two with a base hit in the second and David Dahl drove in the winning run with an RBI single in the sixth. David Buchanan allowed two runs on solo homers over 6.2 innings, earning his third win of the year on his birthday. Max Lazar locked down the win with a scoreless ninth, striking out back-to-back batters to end it.
TODAY’S OPPONENT: Tylor Megill makes his second rehab start of the week on Sunday for the Mets. Megill breezed through four innings on Tuesday, striking out seven and walking one without allowing a hit, going 62 pitches. This will be Megill's fourth rehab start in total and second with Syracuse.
KINGERY DINGERY: Scott Kingery blasted off twice on Thursday for his second multi-homer game of the season. It was his seventh multi-homer game of his career and marks the first time since 2017 that he's had multiple multi-homer games in one season. COLD IN HERE?: Ryan Burr has been cooling opposing bats all season. In his last four outings, he's struck out 8 in 3.2 innings, allowing just two hits and a walk, without allowing a run. He's punched out multiple hitters in seven of his nine outings.
RUIZ RECALL: Jose Ruiz had his contract selected last Friday by the Phillies when they placed RHP Yunior Marte on the IL. has allowed two runs across 11 innings (1.64 ERA) with three walks against 13 strikeouts in 10 relief appearances for the IronPigs this season, holding opposing hitters to a .179 batting average. His three saves lead the team.
LIKE STEALING CANDY FROM A BABY: With 46 steals since the start of April, the 'Pigs are 4th in the IL in stolen bags during that time frame. They've only been caught seven times as well which makes for the best stolen base percentage in the IL over the past month as well (86.7%). In fact, they've only been caught stealing seven times the entire season, the fewest caught stealings in the IL.
PARRALEL PARK(INSON): David Parkinson has been a bright spot of late for the 'Pigs pitching staff. He made his first start of the year on Tuesday and allowed just two runs over four innings. In his past 11.2 innings, he has a 2.31 ERA and a BAA of .191, striking out 11.
TAYLOR'S VERSION: Taylor Lehman logged eight consecutive scoreless outings, from April 17 to May 5. During the scoreless streak (6.1IP), he allowed just one hits and three walks, striking out seven. After allowing a run on Tuesday snapping his streak, he rebounded with a perfect frame on Thursday.
PODKUL IN A PINCH: Nick Podkul jumped up off the bench and hit a game-tying pinch-hit homer on Sunday, April 28 against Charlotte. It was the first pinch-hit homer for the 'Pigs since 2021, when Ryan Cordell did it on May 23 against Syracuse. Wildly, Cornelius Randolph had hit a pinch-hit homer the day prior, snapping a four-year drought. Podkul is 2-for-4 as a pinch-hitter this season.
PINCH-HIT PALOOZA: The IronPigs have not been afraid to dip into their bench and go to a pinch hitter this season. They already have 22 pinch-hit plate appearances (leading the IL by 12), with five hits, including two doubles and a homer. Last year, the 'Pigs had just 23 pinch-hit plate appearances all season, with three hits total.
AMONG HALLOWED HALLS: Darick Hall, currently sitting at 64 career homers, needs just five more homers to tie Andy Tracy (69) for the most homers in franchise history and also has 227 career RBI with the 'Pigs, needing just 34 RBI to tie Tracy (261) for the RBI mark.
FROM THE WINDOWS TO THE DAHL: David Dahl has been an on-base machine to start the season for the 'Pigs. He started the year by reaching base in 14 consecutive games with a 12-game hitting streak to boot as well). He has not gone back-to-back games without reaching base this season. In total, he's reached in 20 of 23 games.
KODY REKALLED: Kody Clemens got his second recall of the season on Saturday for the Phillies, replacing an injured Trea Turner on the roster. Clemens went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI on April 22 at Cincinnati, his first start with the Phillies this season. He followed that up in his second start on May 7, hitting another homer and adding a triple. In 23 games for the IronPigs this season, he has slashed .247/.327/.419 with five doubles, one triple, three home runs, 16 RBI and 17 runs scored. Defensively, he has made 10 starts at second base, five starts in left field and three starts at third base.
PRESIDENT BUCHANAN: David Buchanan has returned to the IronPigs after an eight-year absence and has already made waves in the record book. With his victory on April 10, Buchanan secured his 25th win as an IronPig, giving him the most in franchise history. He's in sight of the strikeout record as well, currently 83 punchouts away from breaking Drew Carpenter's mark of 306
