Pick up real-life tips and tricks for using artificial intelligence (AI) tools on Saturday morning.
Physicians looking for practical ways to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into clinical practice can get tips and tricks at Saturday morning's session "Leveraging AI Tools in Clinical Medicine: Bridging Innovation and Practice," according to moderator Reema Dbouk, MD, FACP.
To develop the session, Dr. Dbouk and her co-presenters focused on the main ways AI can be used to benefit clinical care, including as a clinical reference tool, to complete administrative tasks, and to support medical education.
"We also wanted to make sure that we discussed the cautions and ethical and legal considerations when using artificial intelligence in health care: data privacy, bias, accuracy, those sorts of concerns," said Dr. Dbouk, who is an assistant professor of medicine in the division of general internal medicine at Emory University in Atlanta.
The session will be divided into three sections: an overview of generative AI tools and how they work, a discussion of specific tools and how they can be applied in clinical care and medical education, and a breakout session involving hands-on practice. Dr. Dbouk and her four co-presenters will share insights they've gained from their own use of AI tools, and attendees will get a chance to experiment with the technology as well.
"We'll work with real-world clinical cases on prompt generation and critical appraisal of the AI output," said Dr. Dbouk. "We'll look at potential inaccuracies in the output, and we'll discuss how physicians should verify the output and how they can integrate the tools into their clinical workflows."
Dr. Dbouk said she and her co-presenters have a simple goal for the session: "It's to help physicians move beyond the hype and the fear surrounding artificial intelligence, and instead develop the skills needed to thoughtfully evaluate and responsibly use AI in clinical medicine." ■
