Quickly becoming a perennial favorite in the ADLM Annual Scientific Meeting session catalog, the “Bad, Better, Best,” series returns this year with Episode III, “Putting Generative AI to the Test.” The focus of the session, which takes place Monday afternoon, will be the explosive growth of generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, such as large language models and transformers, and their adoption within clinical lab medicine.
These powerful tools offer unprecedented capabilities in data analysis, visualization, and interpretation for laboratorians. However, to effectively utilize AI technologies, lab professionals must learn to critically assess their strengths and limitations. This interactive session is designed to help attendees cultivate that essential skill.
With an “edutainment” format, it will introduce complex concepts in a way that leaves attendees excited to learn more. The always energetic T. Scott Isbell, PhD, DABCC, FADLM, will serve as emcee, guiding the audience through a series of high-value potential use-cases presented in a point-counterpoint style.
Then, experts Shannon Haymond , PhD, DABCC, FADLM, and Christopher McCudden, PhD, DABCC, FADLM, FCAC, will highlight various approaches to solving each use-case. Attendees will vote on initial approaches, engage in a guided question-and-answer exchange, and gradually uncover deeper insights into best practices and potential pitfalls.
Isbell hopes ADLM 2025 attendees will “not only learn about generative AI applications in laboratory medicine, but also have a good time doing it.” So don’t miss the fun! This engaging session will equip you with practical knowledge to confidently navigate the evolving landscape of generative AI in clinical laboratories.
