Happy Spring, Goose Creek!
Spring is often characterized as the season of change. The flowers start to bloom, the days become longer and we spend more time outside with friends and family. We shed our warm, winter clothes for lighter materials and catch up on much-needed vitamin D. Goose Creek has some of the most talented students in the greater Houston area and the state and they are busy preparing for an active season. From participating in UIL and the Rodeo to spring performances and sporting events; our kids can do it all! We encourage our community to support our student athletes and performers with your presence. Seeing you in the audience means all of the world to them and to us as well.
A healthy work-life-balance is key to the academic success of our students and the career trajectory of our staff. Our Social Emotional Learning department, led by Dr. Precious Reimonenq, and our Benefits department, led by Stephanie Myers, provide resources designed to keep our giants emotionally and physically sound. With everything our students and staff are faced with, it is imperative that we provide the tools they need to be successful.
Our students are also in a season of change. The senior year of high school is one of the most critical times in the life of a student. They are on the cusp of adulthood; preparing for life away from the gaze of their parents and a rigorous K-12 system. As a school district, we don’t just prepare students to perform at the highest level academically, but we instill critical thinking skills as well. By doing so, we are insuring they will be able to make the most informed decisions, in both their personal and professional lives.
As a district, we have experienced change this school year as well. We opened several new campuses, implemented new curriculum and, with the support of the community, we are moving the Class of 2023 graduation back home to Stallworth Stadium May 23-27th. And there is more growth to come, as we welcome more people to the city of Baytown and to Goose Creek CISD.
In closing, we thank our parents and business partners for supporting our district’s initiatives. Providing the highest quality education with more choice of educational pathways than anyone around is what we do, and we cannot do it without you. Your support ensures we are able to attract the highest quality employees and thus, our students remain successful.
Best Regards,
Dr. Randal O'Brien, Superintendent of Schools
