We’re all grown-ups here at the TGA, and we can handle the truth – most of the time. Sure, it hurts a little to know we’re not likely to be included in your wish list of players to complete your dream foursome, but we get it. We’re not Arnie, Jack, Tiger, Bobby, Jordan, Rickie, Rory, DJ, etc.
You might reconsider, though, and bump us into the bottom half of a revised list if you join us on May 23 at Tenison Park’s Highlands Course for a Play 9 outing with the TGA Staff. Then you’ll get to see firsthand that whatever we lack in the golf skills arena, we more than make up for it in the fun department.
This event is our take on the USGA’s PLAY9 program that recognizes and celebrates the many virtues of the nine-hole round. Playing nine holes is a great way to fit the game into a busy schedule and to squeeze in a few more hours of exhilaration that comes with being outdoors on the golf course.
Those who look forward to a post-work round to shake off the stress of the day will enjoy the peaceful oasis of the Highlands Course at Tenison Park. Redesigned in 2001 by PGA Tour professional D. A. Weibring and architect Steve Wolfard, the Highlands is a topnotch layout, in very good condition, with rolling hills, shimmering lakes, groves of hardwood trees and lots of tee boxes so everyone can find a comfortable yardage to play from.
The fun begins May 23 with a 4 p.m. Shotgun Start. The format is a four-person team scramble with TGA Staff as your able-bodied partners. There will be Net and Gross team games, as well as closet-to-the-hole contests with TGA-branded apparel as prizes. The cost to enter includes green fee, cart fee, range balls and tee gift.
If a relaxing afternoon round paired up with a bunch of other fun-loving golfers sounds like a great way to end the day, then come join us! We might not be titans of the game, but we’re a blast to be around. Promise.
