If you liked the speed and consistency of Callaway’s Apex Ti Fusion irons but weren’t ready to embrace their original black finish, the line now comes with a classic chrome plating.
Using a proprietary process that makes chrome plating on titanium possible – by adding an intermediate layer between the components and the finish to allow the chrome to adhere properly – the Apex Ti Fusion Plated and Ti Fusion 250 irons have proven more durable than the originals.
Underneath the chrome finish of the Apex Ti Fusion and Ti Fusion 250 ($350 per stick; $2,100 per 6-piece set) is the same technology as the original – the brazed titanium construction that capitalizes on the power of the metal used in driver faces combined with the forged feel of steel. The multi-material efficiency produces a larger sweet spot in an iron than steel while providing the unique feel typically only found in single-piece forged irons.
The Apex Ti Fusion 250 has a larger footprint than the Ti Fusion, with a thicker top line, added offset and extended blade length that results in a more confidence-inspiring look at address and greater forgiveness.
Getting away from the fused titanium models, the Apex Ai 150 ($229 per club, $1,600 for 7-piece set) is designed for the more advanced golfer. It offers enhanced distance control with the new Ai10x Face technology as well as a player’s preferred shape and loft package. Blending premium materials and modern shaping, this 1025 forged hollow-body design features a 455 face cup (3–7 iron) and a 17-4 face (8-PW) for improved ball speed and feel throughout.
