One of sports' most famous trophies, the Claret Jug, toured iconic sites in New York City last week, marking one month to go until the start of The 153rd Open, taking place at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland from 17-20 July.
Pictured at famous landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge, the iconic trophy also spent time at the Mercedes-Benz Manhattan dealership, NBA headquarters and Yankee Stadium. It also travelled to NBC Sports headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and the British Consulate General in New York.
US fans as well as patrons of The Open and their customers had the opportunity to admire the famous Claret Jug in person, shining a light on golf’s original Championship, taking place next month.
The Claret Jug’s American adventure concluded at a special fan-focused event with Toptracer at Game on Golf Center in White Plains, New York, where fans were able to take a picture with the coveted prize that symbolises the unique history of The Open.
With more than 1.2 million applications made for the 278,000 tickets available, The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush is a sell-out and is set to be the biggest Championship outside of St Andrews and the largest ever sporting event held in Northern Ireland.
The 153rd Open will deliver more than 200 hours of coverage to US fans including extensive live main coverage across NBC, USA Network and Peacock, as well as Featured Groups, a Par 3 Channel and Golf Channel’s "Live from The Open" programming.
