It’s been 60 years since James Bond got the better of Auric Goldfinger and his cheating caddie, Oddjob, by applying the “strict rules of golf” in a match at Stoke Park. Golf Pride has partnered with EON Productions to create a limited edition 007-themed golf grip kit paying homage to the 1964 film.
The “Goldfinger” kit includes 14 custom rubber grips and a specially crafted gold bullion bar collector’s display.
The tuxedo-inspired grip – a tribute to the evolution of Bond’s impeccable style and refinement as well as the outfit Oddjob sported on his loop – has a 007-embossed surface pattern with lapels from the “Goldfinger” era that merges with a diamond-quilted design evoking the white dress shirt of a modern secret agent.
A black bow tie and gold accents and gun-barrel top complete the look.
“While we’re a performance equipment brand at heart, and this grip certainly carries the innovative and high-quality hallmarks of Golf Pride, we really wanted to have fun with this one,” said James Ledford, president of Golf Pride, who earlier in the summer collaborated on a limited-edition grip kit with NBA star Steph Curry. “Whether it’s partnering with a legendary film franchise like James Bond, or a global sports icon like Stephen Curry, we want to offer golfers unique ways to connect to the game through their passions.”
The Golf Pride kit – which is non-conforming for competitive golf due to its stylistic design features – retails for $189 (£189 in the U.K.) and is available for pre-sale on 007Store.com.
