The latest evolution of the TP5 and TP5x family of TaylorMade golf balls takes a leap forward with a “Speed Wrapped Core” impacting speed, sound, feel and overall performance.
TP5 (softest) and TP5x (fastest) represent two distinct choices that cater to different player preferences: spin vs. speed. Instead of picking between one or the other, the choice is a ball with tour-level spin and speed, but at the level of performance that best suits your game.
Since debuting its proprietary 5-layer construction in 2017, the TP5/TP5x franchise has continually evolved to enhance tee-to-green performance with breakthrough technologies to boost distance, wind stability and greenside control.
The first-of-its-kind Speed Wrapped Core produces a softer, more muted sound with better feel while paving the way for a faster Speed Gradient construction, which optimizes every shot in the bag by various combinations of each of the five layers.
This construction results in reduced spin and faster ball speeds on drivers and long irons while enhancing spin control for wedges in the same ball.
TaylorMade’s TP5x is the fastest five-layer tour ball, prioritizing ball speed for golfers seeking lower driver spin with increased velocity off the clubface. The same ball also produces a reduction in long-iron spin, producing a half-club increased distance (based on robot iron testing at tour launch conditions showing 2024 TP5x to be 5 yards longer than the 2021 model) while still maintaining greenside control and delivering a softer sound and better feel.
TP5 offers a notably softer feel with enhanced spin around the green. It is best fit for golfers who prioritize touch and feel in their short games. The 2024 TP5 produces lower driver spin than the previous generation but maintains its greenside performance.
The TP5 and TP5x (each $54.99 per dozen) also come in a durable high-visibility yellow, with an enriched urethane cover so the golf ball stays brighter for longer with less chipped paint and better color retention. Each ball also can be customized with MySymbol – with a minimum requirement of two dozen at $59.99 each – personalizing colors, symbols, logos and numbers.
