Thank you so much, Ron Green, for your kind and compassionate reporting of Grayson Murray’s tortured journey (“Grayson Murray’s inner struggle,” May 27 GGP).
Alcoholism and depression are a deadly combination, and I appreciate you sharing his story so that more people can get help and that the rest of us can be kind and be the people who fight for someone to get better.
I fought for my brother for two years, and now he’s turned the corner, is growing in his faith every day, working hard and has found redemption. Thank you for your empathy and compassion.

Ron Green’s words bring to light many things that can be difficult for some to understand (“Grayson Murray’s inner struggle,” May 27 GGP).

I have suffered from depression since I was a teenager (a really long time ago) but was only diagnosed in my 40s. I learned that if you are not suicidal, you probably will get out of your depression in a matter of time whether it was treated or not.
I know I have had three distinct periods of depression, but only the last one was treated with drugs and therapy, which worked very well for me.
I am heartbroken for someone who had what I would have described as a very bright future but could not see it himself (“Grayson Murray’s inner struggle,” May 27 GGP).
Thank you, Ron Green, for your article that I believe clearly showed that the demons were not defeated just by success and that we all need to do more to fight this form of mental illness. Green’s comment about the Robin Williams quote was so spot on as he, too, committed suicide.
