The Elite Amateur Golf Series, which debuted two years ago with seven of America’s top men’s amateur tournaments, will expand this year to include a women’s tour, organizers told Global Golf Post.
The Women’s Elite Amateur Golf Series will feature five tournaments in a two-month span:
- May 29-31 – Sea Island Women’s Amateur, Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course, St. Simons Island, Georgia
- June 12-15 – Southwestern Women’s Amateur, Desert Mountain Club’s Outlaw Course, Scottsdale, Arizona
- June 25-29 – North & South Women’s Amateur, Pinehurst (North Carolina) Resort’s Nos. 2 and 4 courses
- July 15-20 – Women’s Western Amateur, Onwentsia Club, Lake Forest, Illinois
- July 23-25 – Ladies National Golf Association Amateur, Hot Springs (Arkansas) Country Club
“Since day one, our goal has been to align the top competitive amateur events in the United States, not only for the men’s game but for the women’s game as well,” said Andy Priest, the executive director of the Southern Golf Association and chairperson of the Elite Amateur Golf Series. “We are excited to play a leading role in elevating elite women’s golf by providing these athletes with an aligned summer schedule of competition at some of the most renowned venues in the country conducted by historic organizations and world-class resorts.”
In mirroring the men’s series, the Women’s EAGS will include a season-long competition for the Elite Amateur Cup. Using results from the five tournaments and the World Amateur Golf Ranking, top finishers in the final standings will earn exemptions into USGA championships. Other professional exemptions were expected to be announced.
