Davis Love III made a comment last week that the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund/LIV are nowhere near a “framework agreement” by the previously agreed-upon December 31 deadline. I don't find that surprising given the war in the Middle East. The Saudis probably have more on their plate than this deadline.
If the proposed alliance between the tour and the PIF becomes collateral damage from the war, where does that leave the PGA Tour? Commissioner Jay Monahan previously said that the tour dipped into its cash reserves to fund the tour during the pandemic. Earlier this year, the tour dramatically increased its purses and performance money. If the tour needs the Saudi cash infusion to fund it and its DP Tour alliance, and it doesn't come from PIF, where will it come from?

I loved Matt Cooper’s article in Global Golf Post on the rise of Adrian Meronk (“The towering Pole: Meronk stands out as Poland’s ambassador of golf,” October 30 GGP).
I have long been a fan and was utterly disappointed that he was not selected for the Ryder Cup. European captain Luke Donald did a great job in Rome, but for me there will always be a stain on that performance due to the non-selection of Meronk.
Apart from the fact that Meronk’s recent record showed that he utterly deserved to be on the team, Luke Donald should have considered the fantastic benefit that this would have brought to Polish golf. It was sadly almost a throwback to World War II, when Polish pilots were not initially trusted to fly in combat with the Royal Air Force. When the loss of pilots forced the hand of Air Chief Marshal Hugh Dowding, they turned out to be highly successful and very brave.

I just want to congratulate Matt Cooper on a lovely article about Adrian Meronk (“The towering Pole: Meronk stands out as Poland’s ambassador of golf,” October 30 GGP). What a talented golfer.
I have been following Meronk since a good friend of mine, Stuart Beck, has started caddying for him. I was very privileged to walk with them at the BMW Championship at Wentworth on the practice day.
The way Meronk hits his driver and irons is unbelievable. He makes it look so easy. He is only going to get better.
I can't wait to see what he is going to do on the PGA Tour. He will definitely be in contention coming down the last few holes on the Sunday afternoon.
Play well, Team Meronk.
