Great articles, Matt Cooper (“Whole lotta Carlota: Unbeaten Ciganda leads Solheim charge at home” and “Fit to be tied, but Europe keeps cup,” September 25, GGP).
As a 78-year-old golfer playing 66 years this year, my heart throbs watching match play, my favorite way to play golf. Saturday, while watching the Spaniard Carlota Ciganda, it hit me that her mannerisms resembled Sergio García’s: the walk, the gestures and the intense look on her face. She captured the moments for Spain.
I’m proud of our American gals. Yes, they came close. However, they didn’t lose the match, but the grit of players such as Caroline Hedwall and Carlota Ciganda was a thing to behold.
I can’t wait until next year.
