TaylorMade pushes the boundaries with its dimple patterns as well as dynamic visual alignment aids featured in its family of golf balls ranging from the five-layer TP5 and TP5x to the three-layer Tour Response and Soft Response.
TP5 and TP5x balls ($49.99 per dozen) offer complete tee-to-green performance thanks to TaylorMade’s proprietary five-layer construction. TP5 provides a softer feel, increased greenside spin and a lower launch in comparison to TP5x, which is faster, longer and higher-launching.
The latest TP5 ball enhances control in the short game with a larger, more reactive core that delivers more ball speed while retaining the same feel and spin properties of the previous generation.
The TP5x offers added distance and ball speed through a slightly softer cast urethane cover that better grips the grooves on a wedge for increased spin around the greens with lower launch, while remaining the fastest tour ball in the TaylorMade lineup.
The pix alignment system uses 12 evenly spaced triangular graphics to enhance visibility while significantly aiding in alignment on the green and helping golfers immediately gauge the quality of their stroke.
The same tour-flight dimple pattern used in the TP5/TP5x is also available in the softer urethane cover Tour Response ball ($42.99 per dozen), promoting maximum carry distance on all types of shots. The unique dual-radius dimple shape optimizes airflow around the golf ball during flight, ultimately reducing drag, optimizing lift and promoting distance.
A firmer second layer surrounding the inner low-compression core helps the Tour Response ball explode off the face with increased face interaction to maximize energy transfer and produce faster ball speeds.
TaylorMade’s Tour Response stripe stands out with an arsenal of visually arresting alignment features and vibrant colors.
The 360-degree “ClearPath Alignment” visual technology is a 22-millimeter digital band that wraps around the center of the golf ball to help aim putts easier, better and more consistently. Inside the digital band is a thin black line to match with putter sight lines for immediate aid in alignment.
The stripe also provides immediate feedback on the quality of the roll in each putt. Proper strikes are easily identifiable as the stripe rolls consistently to the hole, while off-center strikes cause the digital band to wobble.
The standard lime-yellow stripe finish also offers enhanced visibility all over the course.
“Tour Response already separated itself from the competition with overall materials and performance, but now with Tour Response Stripe it will also give golfers the feedback needed to boost their performance on the greens,” said Mike Fox, director of golf ball product creation.
The Soft Response ($29.99) features an extended-flight dimple pattern – which decreases drag and optimizes lift to allow the ball to stay in the air longer at lower speeds and spin rates – on the softest ball from cover to core that TaylorMade offers.
