According to the National Golf Foundation, the number of female golfers has grown to all-time highs since the pandemic. Callaway’s new Big Bertha Reva family was developed using extensive data and individual player feedback from female golfers to create what it calls a “best-in-class new women’s lineup.”
The Big Bertha Reva driver, fairways, hybrids and irons are engineered to launch higher and deliver more distance, more accuracy and more confidence to every level of women’s player.
“We’ve done a ton of research with LPGA players all the way to women who are just starting in the game,” said Kim Johnson, a retail marketing manager who leads Callaway’s Reva brand Women’s Task Force. “This is a more aspirational product. This is the product for women who are ready to upgrade, ready for real technology that is specifically designed for them. It’s the golfer who’s playing more recreationally, and something that’s going to hit the ball straighter and more distance.”
The Reva brand was launched in 2020 as the first Callaway line designed from start to finish with female golfers in mind. It shares the Big Bertha name and foundational technology with the men’s line, but utilizes lofts, swing weights and progressive shaft lengths specifically designed to optimize women’s skills.
Reva drivers are built for maximum forgiveness and distance in an easy-to-launch package with a generous profile at address and a high-strength XL face that features a large sweet spot and uses cutting edge A.I. technology to optimize speed and spin across the face. The adjustable fairway woods feature more loft and a shallow face, with slightly shorter shaft lengths. The hybrids (all the way up to a 9-hybrid) and irons have added loft and precisely positioned weighting to launch extremely high.
The extensive Reva hybrid line, in particular, is designed for golfers who prefer hybrids over long irons, with inviting shapes that are easy to launch thanks to precisely positioned tungsten weights.
“You’re seeing more hybrids in the women’s game … they’re easy to hit, they’re nice to look at and they’re forgiving,” Johnson said. “I love the adjustability, and that we’re taking it up to a 9-hybrid. It just gives women more options.”
The Big Bertha Reva family of clubs is available for pre-sale on April 21 and will be in stock at retailers on April 28. The Reva driver retails for $500, the fairway woods $300 each, the hybrids $260 and a six-piece iron set runs $1,000 in steel and $1,100 graphite.
