The new Aerojet family of metals and irons is Cobra’s longest and most aerodynamic model, building on the design and performance attributes of the previous LTDx lineup while delivering faster clubhead speed and ball speed.
The family debuts a bold new shape in three drive models – the Aerojet, Aerojet LS and Aerojet Max – with each featuring a new suspended weight design utilizing a 13-gram internal bridge structure elevated above the sole to achieve a low, forward center of gravity for maximum speed and reduced spin.
The Aerojet LS (low spin) driver – which features the most aggressive aero shape and is designed for skilled players with faster swing speeds – has a streamlined frontal area, raised aft and skirt, and a more curved crown with a peak moved as far from the face as possible. These design attributes contribute to a significant reduction in drag through the swing for up to 1.5 mph increased clubhead speed. It has forward adjustable heel and toe weights (12 and 3 grams) to tune a neutral to fade-biased ball flight.
The standard Aerojet driver blends low-spin performance with added stability and slightly higher launch than the LS model, using a fixed back weight (12 grams). The Aerojet Max offers maximum forgiveness and trajectory height through an adjustable back and heel weight (12 and 3 grams, respectively) that also can be used to deliver a draw-bias when the weights are flipped.
The elevated internal bridge makes room for the PwrShell face insert, which debuts in a Cobra driver, and combines with the H.O.T. Face variable thickness pattern to deliver a larger sweet zone for faster ball speed and more efficient spin across the face. A 30-percent thinner ply carbon fiber is utilized in both the crown and sole, resulting in freed-up discretionary weight to be positioned lower in the clubhead.
All three driver models retail for $549.
“The aerodynamic package in the new Aerojet family of drivers is our most advanced to date,” said Mike Yagley, vice president of innovation for Cobra Golf. “We continue to balance the aggressive streamlining with optimum mass and resilience properties to give players maximum clubhead speed and ball-launch characteristics for increased distance.”
Complementing all three Aerojet driver models is a full lineup of fairway metals ($329 each) utilizing the same technical innovations. The standard and Max models offer an adjustable 7W in addition to the 3W and 5W.
Rounding out the new family are Aerojet hybrids ($279 each) feature a new shape with lower heel, more rounded crown, and slightly raised aft as well as the same weighting and face technologies of the drivers and fairways. The standard hybrid is available in 2-6 with lofts ranging from 17 to 28 degrees. The Aerojet One Length hybrid (3-5 ranging from 19 to 24 degrees) is designed in a shorter setup (37.25 inches) to complement the one-length irons in a combo set.
The Aerojet irons feature a sleek new design with a refined topline and the PwrBridge weighting design to optimize weight distribution and flexibility. Iron sets ($999 steel, $1,099 graphite) are available in variable and One Length options.
