Callaway’s new trio of Paradym drivers promises a complete shift in performance with a 360-degree carbon chassis design breaking the tradeoff between more distance and forgiveness.
The Paradym comes in three driver models, each priced at $600: the Paradym, Paradym X and Paradym Triple Diamond. By eliminating titanium from the body, engineers can push weight and stability to the limit, providing a refined shape with high MOI and adjustable perimeter weighting.
“There’s no titanium or aluminum reinforcements: this is 100 percent carbon composite bonded together, and it’s about 44 percent lighter than a titanium chassis, so that gives us a ton of discretionary weight that we can take out of the middle of the clubhead and move into different areas to enhance performance,” said Evan Gibbs, Callaway’s R&D woods director. “A lot of it is in the back of the clubhead to give some adjustability and higher MOI, and some of it shifted to the front to enhance the ball speed technologies.”
Each Paradym driver model is packed with Callaway A.I. features including a lighter Jailbreak system for faster speed and stability as well as face optimization to enhance speed, launch and spin along with downrange dispersion. It’s also the first Callaway driver to utilize its face-cup technology, combining with the powerful forged titanium face to provide higher energy transfer to the ball.
The standard Paradym driver is engineered for players of all skill levels, promoting high launch and low spin along with a neutral ball flight, offering the combination of distance, forgiveness, and adjustability. The triaxial carbon crown and forged carbon sole is significantly lighter, with the weight savings repositioned both forward for fast ball speeds, and toward the back of the clubhead for higher MOI and increased forgiveness.
Adjustable perimeter weighting using a 15-gram sliding weight allows players to experience an average of 12 yards of shot-shape correction.
The Paradym X model is built for a high launch with high MOI, along with a generously stretched profile at address. This model is best suited for golfers seeking extreme forgiveness and a slight draw bias from their driver. Five grams of rear weight is positioned to increase launch and lower spin for maximum carry distance.
The Paradym Triple Diamond model is a compact, 450cc shape designed for better players who want to work the ball. It’s the lowest-spinning and lowest-launching Paradym model with a neutral ball flight. A 12-gram back weight can be positioned in the front for lower spin and maximum workability.
