Fujikura promotes the “stability and consistency” of its popular Ventus shaft family, so it never hurts when the new Masters champion exemplifies those qualities using its equipment.
Scottie Scheffler used Fujikura Ventus Black 7X and 8X in his driver and 3-wood, respectively, during his victory march at Augusta National. The shaft maker released new for 2022 a Ventus TR shaft that blends the stability of its Black with the power and feel of its Blue in a mid-launch/low-spin profile designed specifically with stiffened torque in the section of the shaft where golfers need it most to increase stability and consistency.
Analytics using its proprietary 3D motion-capture system show that the shaft undergoes tremendous stress in the mid/handle section during the transition and downswing. To increase the torsional stiffness by almost 10 percent compared to the Blue in this specific section, the Ventus TR incorporates a strong and ultra-lightweight composite woven material it calls Spread Tow to reduce twist during the swing.
Still at the heart of the Ventus TR is Fujikura’s VeloCore technology, a multi-material bias core construction technique that reduces twist through transition and impact, maximizing MOI, ball speed and smash factor, especially on off-center hits. It’s designed to promote consistent center-face impact, tightening dispersion and increasing control.
The Ventus TR shaft – which fades from a sparkle navy blue to black at the grip – has a suggested retail of $350.
