With its new Exotics 722 series of irons, Tour Edge not only features new technologies and setups in its Extreme (E) and Competition (C) ranges but introduces a new utility iron.
In addition to a revamped C722 series of irons and an enhanced E722 lineup, the C722 Ti-Utility iron provides another weapon in the bag.
“We’ve made the tour-popular C722 iron 15 percent smaller than the previous iteration with a thinner top-line and shorter blade length, while raising the launch profile and expanding the sweet spot on the E722 iron,” said David Glod, the founder and president of Tour Edge.
“With the new C722 Ti-Utility, we’ve taken one of the most played utility irons on the PGA Tour Champions, thinned out the topline and added some adjustability, as well as increasing ball speed to make this one of the fastest utilities you will find anywhere.”
The E722’s larger iron head is designed to provide extreme distance and forgiveness. It places a high-grade thermoplastic urethane in the deep 360-degree undercut pocket, which features a thicker topline, more offset and higher launch angles. The combination lowers the CG to produce a higher launch, increased face flexing, ball speed and overall distance across the entire face.
Its Diamond Face VFT has 103 different diamond shapes behind the face, which designers say function as mini trampolines to create faster ball speeds and expand the sweet spot to outer areas of the power-lofted face so that the full face of the iron is covered.
The C722 is a player’s distance iron loaded with the same technology and 92 diamond shapes behind its more compact face. The clubhead is 15 percent smaller than before with a shorter blade length and a thinner topline. The classic shape features more traditional lofting from iron to iron.
Its hollow-body design offers extreme perimeter weighting to allow for increased face flex, and ability to have a thinner face and a deeper CG in a thin-sole iron design.
The compact shape with added offset of the C722 Ti-Utility iron combines the look, feel and workability of a traditional forged iron with the distance of a metalwood. Tour Edge considers it a long-iron replacement club for players looking for the faster ball speeds, lower spin and optimal sound and feel.
