CBX ZipCore is the third generation in Cleveland Golf’s CBX family of wedges, building upon the legacy of Cleveland’s cavity-back wedges designed to deliver a higher blend of forgiveness and versatility.
“The sole is more forgiving, the face is more forgiving, and it’s easier to swing,” Jeff Brunski, vice president of research and development at Cleveland Golf, said of the cavity-back wedges which he claims provide “tour technology built into a wedge made for real golfers.”
The foundation of CBX ZipCore is a lightweight, low-density core that sits at the heart of the wedge, designed to make players better by reducing vibration and shifting the center of gravity. It also boosts moment of inertia by 26 percent compared with the previous generation for more stability and forgiveness high and low on the wedge face.
Its unique cavity design has a hollow chamber near the heel with added weight in the toe to maximize MOI and perimeter weighting for short-game forgiveness. In addition, a Gelback TPU insert dampens vibrations to provide a pure feel at impact.
The CBX ZipCore also features Cleveland’s UltiZip grooves, which are sharper, deeper and closer together than previous generations, adding two more grooves in each wedge face for more groove contact and more spin.
It offers three Dynamic sole grinds – V-, S-, and C-shaped – which are optimized according to loft, including a 44-degree wedge designed to outperform many set-matching pitching wedges.
