Amelie Zalsman, Anna Ritter and Savannah de Bock scored victories in venerable tournaments on the winter women’s amateur circuit in Florida over the past two weeks.
Zalsman, 17, won the 100th renewal of The Sally (South Atlantic Women’s Amateur) on Saturday at Oceanside Country Club in Ormond Beach. Zalsman, a 17-year-old member of the U.S. National Junior Team who is committed to Wake Forest, set a tournament scoring record with her 15-under-par 273 total and finished two strokes ahead of two-time defending champion Kary Hollenbaugh. Ritter, a University of Illinois senior, won the 93rd Ione D. Jones/Doherty Women’s Amateur Championship on Friday at Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, defeating University of Georgia freshman Gabriella Albert, 4 and 3, in the final. On her way to the championship match, Ritter beat Maggie Carlson (6 and 5), Erin Mullin (3 and 2), Maria Harrouch (3 and 2) and Abra Richmond (2 up). RESULTS
On New Year’s Eve, Eastern Michigan University junior Savannah de Bock won the Citrus Golf Trail Ladies Invitational (formerly the Harder Hall) at Sun ’N Lake Golf Club in Sebring, Florida. The Belgian shot 2-under (74-68-69-75) and finished three strokes ahead of Alyssa Zhang. Martha Leach won the “Forever 49” division by seven strokes, shooting 10-over (78-72-75-73). RESULTS
Lucas Gimenez won the 100th New Year’s Invitational in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Jan. 4, prevailing in a six-man playoff at St. Petersburg Country Club. The 37th-ranked American Junior Golf Association player shot 7-under (66-68-72) before outlasting Chase Bauer, Calen Sanderson, Carson Baez, Jacob Lang and Parker Severs in a playoff.
With the victory, Gimenez earned a berth in the Korn Ferry Tour’s LECOM Suncoast Classic.
Joseph Trim shot 3-under (73-67-70) to win the mid-amateur division. He was the only mid-amateur to shoot under par for the tournament. RESULTS
Australians Abel Eduard and Raegan Denton won the men’s and women’s titles at the Australian Master of the Amateurs tournament at Southern Golf Club on Friday.
Eduard shot 13-under (63-72-67-73) to finish two strokes ahead of San Diego State Aztec and fellow Australian Harry Takis. Denton, a Louisiana State University commit, shot 5-under (75-66-71-75) and finished one stroke clear of USC Trojan Catherine Park. RESULTS
University of Florida sophomore Siuue Wu dominated the field to win the Women’s Orlando Invitational Amateur last Tuesday at Mission Resort and Club.
After rounds of 73 and 67 put her in a tie for the lead at 3-under going into the final round, the Hong Kong player shot a 7-under 65 to finish seven strokes ahead of Rayee Feng.
With the victory, Wu earned an exemption into the 2026 LET Access Series in Portugal. RESULTS
