The choices for loft, grind and bounce combinations in the SM10 family keeps growing with the additions of the 58.06K and 60.06K lob wedges to the Vokey Design arsenal. And later in March, every one of them will be available in a limited-edition Oil Can finish.
With the addition of the .06K lob wedges, the Vokey SM10 line now features 27 different loft, grind and bounce combinations to fit a variety of swing types, styles of play and course conditions.
The two .06K models ($189) offer the greenside versatility of a low bounce lob wedge with the added forgiveness of a wide K Grind sole, which helps out of bunkers. These features are geared toward players with shallower deliveries, or those who play on firmer turf conditions yet still benefit from the performance of a wider sole.
Working with tour players, master craftsman Bob Vokey found that some players preferred the K Grind sole but needed a lower bounce version to hit higher, softer pitches off the firmer, tighter lies on tour. Both Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele won majors last year with a 60.06K lob wedge in the bag.
“As a result of those requests, we crafted a K Grind sole with 6 degrees of effective bounce, while maintaining the wide camber that makes the K Grind design so helpful for a wide variety of players,” said Vokey. “As soon as we brought it out on tour, it was immediately accepted and in the bags of multiple players as soon as they had a chance to test it.”
Said Vokey tour representative Aaron Dill: “It has always been known as the ultimate bunker club. However, when you ask players on tour why they play the .06K Grind, they will tell you not only do they love the performance in the bunkers, but they love the way the leading edge hugs the ground when pitching and chipping.”
Vokey Design’s new, limited-edition Oil Can finish is a modern update to a classic look that dates all the way back to the Vokey 200 Series wedges.
The PVD-treatment finish achieves a rich copper color while minimizing reflectivity and maximizing durability. Complementing the Oil Can finish wedges is a custom copper-colored Golf Pride Z-Grip Cord grip with BV Wings and a Project X wedge shaft with an exclusive brushed chrome finish.
All 27 loft, bounce and grind combinations in the Vokey Design SM10 line – in both right- and left-hand models – can be ordered with the Oil Can finish ($249) through custom presale March 18 and will be available globally while supplies last beginning March 27.
