Golf Pride, which has been the trusted grip of choice in the hands of 43 Masters winners in the last 56 years, commemorates its association with the season’s first major championship with a limited-edition “Honorary Starter” grip.
The 2024 Honorary Starter is a distinctive green-and-yellow version of Golf Pride’s MCC Plus4, available via golfpride.com and selected retailers starting on the Monday of Masters week. The MCC collection is the most widely used golf grip in the world by amateurs and professionals.
Since Golf Pride’s first victory at Augusta in the 1967 tournament, 43 champions have used its grips, including an unprecedented run of 17 consecutive victories from 1987 to 2003. Golf Pride expects to be in the hands of at least 80 percent of players teeing it up at Augusta National this week, with MCC the choice of 30 percent of them.
“The first major championship of the season is here, and we are proud to have been trusted by the hands of so many past champions in the event’s storied history,” said James Ledford, president of Golf Pride. “The legends who have chosen our grips over the past 60 years are a testament to the innovation, quality and longevity of our brand. The Honorary Starter pays tribute to the past while utilizing the modern technology that has made Golf Pride the most recognizable grip brand in the world.”
The Honorary Starter MCC Plus4 is a hybrid golf grip designed with a larger lower hand section that simulates four additional wraps of tape to encourage lighter grip pressure, reduced tension and increased speed. The 2024 limited-edition design ($12.99 per grip) is available in standard and midsize. Customers in the United States who order 13 or more Honorary Starter grips online will receive (while supplies last) a free azalea print microfiber towel.
