The Beres Aizu and Black collections of clubs from Honma’s Japanese craftsmen take playing well with tools that look good while doing it to a luxurious artistic level.
Both Beres lines of clubs are visually stunning while promoting game-enhancement through straighter drives, longer ball flight and increased ball speed.
“This new line represents the latest breakthrough technology for golfers with moderate-to-modest swing speeds,” says Janeann Lanning, COO of Honma North America. “Beres Aizu and Black allow golfers to make pure, stable swings with enhanced speed and powerful ball flight.”
The Beres Aizu is designed in collaboration with Japanese Aizu artisans, whose lacquer craft originated in 1590 in the northern part of Japan near Honma’s Sakata factory and represent its heritage and tradition. The signature red and ornate gold accents enhance technologically advanced drivers, fairways and irons made with Takumi “master craftsmanship” expertise. The Ladies model has the lacquer painting over pink, lavender and white.
Beres Black clubheads are coated with a jet-black vaporized PVD process for a sleek and elegant finish with gold accents.
“Aizu appeals to players with an artistic flair and respect for Japanese craftsmanship,” Lanning said, “while Black brings a modern, refined look for players who value performance and style without compromise – perhaps attracting younger golfers who might never have previously tried Beres.”
Both Beres model clubhead designs feature identical technology. Each driver ($1,149 Black; $949 Aizu) features triple sole slots – which bend at impact and rebound to increase ball speed, even on mishits – and an L-Cup face for powerful initial ball speed. Optimal center of gravity (CG) design enables high trajectory, low spin, forgiveness and distance. The draw bias helps correct fade tendencies associated with modest swing speeds. An ultra-low specific gravity titanium alloy (Ti811) thin-walled crown with varying thinness optimizes impact deflection.
The fairway woods ($649-$699) and hybrids ($549-$599) also feature the new triple sole slot, thin crown, flexible face, and low-CG weight distribution designed independently for each head.
The irons ($399-$499) aim to create a high-trajectory ball flight along with forgiveness and stability. A wide 3D L-Cup structure has a new ultra-thin face with vertical slits that improve the face insert strength to maximize speed and forgiveness.
Honma’s trademark performance-driven shafts are hand-rolled utilizing high-strength lightweight materials reserved for applications in aerospace manufacturing. They flex but recover more quickly back to its original shape, producing unprecedented stability and swing speed.
