The third generation of Titleist’s AVX golf ball promises improved short-game spin and control, increased driver distance and an even softer feel.
“We focused on what AVX golfers are asking for: improving upon the already incredible distance and feel that golfers love, while enhancing greenside spin,” said Frederick Waddell, Titleist’s director of golf ball product management. “We achieved this by softening the urethane cover to achieve greater short-game performance, while adding a new core formulation for speed, and new aerodynamics for flight stability and more distance.”
The original AVX was engineered by Titleist in 2018 as a performance alternative to its flagship Pro V1 and Pro V1x by offering the lowest flight, lowest spin and softest feel of the three premium offerings.
Its new reformulated core – with a soft center and increased stiffness at the outermost portion – incrementally decreases driver and long-game spin while its hard high-flex casing layer promotes high ball speed for enhanced distance. A new softer urethane cover contributes to improved short-game and greenside spin.
A new dimple pattern with seven dimple sizes delivers a piercing, low trajectory while providing a consistent ball flight on all shots.
AVX is offered in both white and high optic yellow at $49.99 a dozen.
Titleist also introduced new longer versions of its Velocity and TruFeel balls.
The new Velocity is engineered to provide increased speed and high flight with a singular focus on longer distance through the bag. The company says this is accomplished through a new higher compression core and reformulated cover combination.
Velocity is currently available for $29.99 a dozen in white only. In October, three matte colors will be offered – orange, green and blue.
Already the softest golf ball in the Titleist family, the TruFeel has been redesigned for more distance in combination with even softer greenside feel. It has a larger (1.600-inch) and faster core and a thinner, reformulated TruFlex cover with the intent of providing improved feel and control around the green.
TruFeel is offered in white and high-optic yellow for $24.99 a dozen.
